That New Year Thing
As always, one of my top resolutions is work on my Japanese. I haven't been on Lang-8 forever, but for some reason I was possessed to sign up at iKnow! Username's Sonja there, too. Hopefully I'll actually hang out at both consistently. Meanwhile, I intend to drown myself in J-dramas...I downloaded an entire series overnight (FiOS is awesome), so it's entirely possible now! I've got J-pop out the wazoo, listen to a podcast entirely in Japanese, can watch (or read) news online, have multiple readers, novels, and a good textbook. And, goddamnit, I will take the JLPT again this year! I also bought some kiddie books to read to my nephew, so that'll be good reinforcement for me.

The other one is always about my comics. Idle Spirits is the current project, and I'm loving it. I know I haven't updated (surprise, surprise), but that's holiday chaos for ya. Something's going up this week, though. I've been writing like crazy and looked up pics to use as models for the characters, so I can make sure I'm drawing them consistently. But it's all about getting new pages out, at least three a week, 150 for the year. At least. (I'd love to beat the year I drew 176 pages of comics...)

Having written a draft of a 40,000 word fanfic for NaNoWriMo (which needs editing like whoa), I'm still determined to finish the handful of original novel ideas I've been keeping around. Can't say I'll do that this year (though it'd be nice), but I will start writing longer stories (original and fanfic), more in the 10-20,000 word range. At least I managed to final silence my inner editor =)

I have no particular music-related resolutions, even though I haven't touched Antonio in forever (why can I suddenly not tune him? T_T) and I want to take singing lessons. But true blue hobbies will always take the backseat...

Yoga and meditation. I started doing the sun salutations in the morning. It helped with my sore arm from bowling for three hours straight. I meditate, but I want to work it into my regular routine, instead of doing it when I'm on the verge of collapsing on myself from anxiety. That...might be healthier.

I need a job. I need the money. (I've been borderline broke for the past few months - missed out on SPX because of it.) I only go to school two days and one night during the week for this semester - I have the time! I have tuition to pay, plus my website in August, and my savings have diminished (thanks to the tuition) to under $1k.

De-clusterfuck the college thing. I need to send my high school transcript to SCAD, and try to figure out whether I'll be going there next year or not. Also, look into ROTC, because if that gets me into SCAD - fine, I'll do it. If SCAD falls through, I'm done with this halfway BS. I'll pick a new major (maybe journalism, something with writing and editing), look into a new school far away from Philadelphia, and try to have 2-3 years with a semi-normal college life. The way things are now, I'm stuck in the same place I've been all my life, going to a city I hate, and commuting kills any chances of meeting people. So...yeah. (I'd also like to go on at least one date before I turn 20. Nothing serious. Seems pretty unlikely at this point.)

Get more proactive politically. I have no idea what, yet, but I want to do something besides giving money to the Green Party (I STILL LOVE YOU, 'KAY?) or joining in random protests. And definitely no letter-writing, because that doesn't do anything. Although this kind of hinges on the point above about having no social life...

On a less SRS BZNESS note...I've grown my hair back to the length I had in March '07 when I did the big chop. If things stay on track, I'll have my childhood length back this summer -- and exceed it by the end of the year. Then I'll be three inches away from waist-length hair! :D

And, not a resolution, but I read recaps of the Twilight books and now I'm reading them for the lulz. Can't wait to get to Breaking Dawn. LOL.

Second half of the year is where I tend to fall down on the resolutions >_O The Japanese thing is definitely easier now with iKnow for vocab and FreeStation for TV (w00t).

Twilight is oddly addictive. The first book so far is so exceedingly mediocre (I get it, Edward is hot, sheesh!), but not at awful levels yet...I know what happens at the end of the series, that's what made me want to read it XD If Breaking Dawn gets turned into a movie, I will so go to theaters to see that crack.

Ooh haha xD
Hoorah! Do you get grammar from iKnow too? And is it only for Japanese? It's become a bit more necessary for me to learn more French Dx

Really? I found I was addicted when I was reading the series (in a very bad way), but when I started to analyze what was actually happening, I became sickened by it and couldn't read more than a few chapters at a time. I guess you could say I had an over-dramatic reaction to it. xD

iKnow is geared more towards vocab (great for people like me who blow at it big time). You can make your own lists there and use others' so there might be some French there.

I guess I'm not spazzing on Twilight, 'cause I already heard about it's awfulness and creepy messages...and it made me want to check it out. (Kind of like how I want to read Hot Gimmick, too...) It's...it's like a trainwreck. I can't turn away and I don't want to. XD

Ah! I think I must check this place out ^o^

Hehe, good at least that you heard about it before-hand. Then you get to pick out what bits reflect what you've heard, instead of happening upon it. Eh, what is Hot Gimmick? Sounds familiar, but I forget everything these days xD

The music is very addictive...*_* It's worth at the very least for BrainSpeed.

Hot Gimmick is a manga whose plot I don't recall, but the main character is apparently consistently attracted to abusive dickholes, and her main "love interest" assaults her repeatedly. Or something like that. I haven't read it yet.

Hee xD

Oh my. I don't think I could read something that dreadful. I'd be shouting, "You dumb b****! Why'd ya do THAT?" xDDD

Oy, I found the sexiest layout for my IJ <33
